A year for growth and exploration

New Beginnings at the Flower Farm: A Fresh Start for 2025

As the chill of January settles in, my life becomes a time for quiet preparation. The holidays are behind us, and now is the perfect time to plan for the exciting year ahead. For Beverly Blooms, January isn’t just the start of a new year — it’s a fresh opportunity to grow, to dream, and to cultivate both beautiful blooms and new goals!

Welcoming a Year of Growth and Blooms

The new year is always a time of possibility. As a florist and flower farmer, I’ve learned that every season brings its own surprises and challenges. In January, as I look ahead to the warmer months, I begin to plan for what’s to come — from planting the first seeds to curating bouquets and floral arrangements for special events, CSA subscriptions, and everyday moments! It’s a time of fresh beginnings for both my flowers and the family farm.

As I prepare to break ground on a new field here in Montana, the upcoming season presents an exciting opportunity to grow both our family farm and my business. I’ve carefully selected the best location on the farm, ensuring it has the right soil, sunlight, and drainage for the blooms I plan to grow. Over the next few months, I’ll focus on preparing the land, tilling the soil, and enriching it with organic compost to give the flowers the best start. I’m also mapping out irrigation lines and creating planting beds that allow for easy care and harvesting. With a mix of beloved classics and exciting new varieties, I’m eager to cultivate a vibrant field that will bloom with color all season long, while also continuing to help to build a sustainable, thriving farm for generations to come.

I can’t wait to share some of the exciting plans I have in store for 2025. This year, I’m working on expanding the selection of locally grown flowers both in quantity and variety. I plan to do some experimenting with new varieties of flowers that will elevate your seasonal bouquets, and I will continue to focus on sustainability and eco-friendly practices. From the tiniest buds to full, vibrant blooms, Beverly Blooms’ commitment to providing you with the freshest, most beautiful flowers will always be at the heart of everything I do!

Setting Goals for the Year Ahead

Much like flowers, the new year is all about growth and renewal. Setting goals — both personal and professional — is an important part of that process. As we step into 2025, here are a few of the goals I will be working toward this season:

  1. Sustainability: This year, I want to double down on my commitment to sustainability. I’m exploring more eco-friendly packaging options, reducing my carbon footprint, and working to make growing practices even greener. I believe it’s important to protect the earth that nurtures these beautiful blooms, and I’m excited about the steps I’ll take to become even more eco-conscious.

  2. Expanding BB’s Offerings: In 2025, I’m planning to bring more locally grown flowers to my new community. This means adding more varieties to all offerings, from delicate early summer flowers the bold colors of sunflowers and dahlias in the later months. I also hope to offer more workshops and floral design classes — giving you the chance to get hands-on with flowers and learn the art of creating your own stunning bouquets, wreaths, and more!

  3. Community Connection: As a small, local business, I deeply value the relationships with my customers and community. In the year ahead, I’m focused on connecting with my new community here in Missoula and sharing all my flowers. I’ll be at markets, hosting workshops, and pop-up events where I can share my love for flowers with you in person. I’m excited to build a stronger sense of connection and joy through the simple beauty of flowers in my new home.

  4. Personal Growth: I also always like to set personal goals to grow and learn — from attending workshops and conferences and deepening my knowledge of floral design and farming techniques to continueing to practice taking care of and making time for myself throughout the craziness. I believe that by continually improving myself and my craft, I’ll be able to produce even better products and experiences.

Goal-Setting Tips for the New Year

As I work toward these goals, I’m reminded that goal setting is an ongoing process, not a one-time event. Here are some tips for setting meaningful goals that will help you grow in 2024:

  • Be Specific: Instead of vague goals like “get healthier,” try something more actionable, like “take a 30-minute walk every day” or “add more plant-based meals to my diet.” Specific goals are easier to track and measure.

  • Break It Down: Large goals can feel overwhelming, so break them into smaller, more manageable steps. Want to learn how to arrange flowers? Start by mastering one technique at a time.

  • Stay Flexible: Life can be unpredictable, and it’s important to adapt your goals as things change. If you’re unable to meet a goal this month, don’t be discouraged — just adjust your plan and keep moving forward.

  • Celebrate the Small Wins: Don’t wait until the big goal is achieved to celebrate. Every small step forward is progress, and it’s important to acknowledge those moments along the way.

Looking Ahead with Excitement

As the seeds begin to be get organized and the plans begin to come together, I’m filled with excitement and anticipation for all the possibilities the year will bring. I hope you’ll join me on this journey, whether by visiting me at a market or event, attending a workshops, or simply enjoying the beauty of Beverly Blooms fresh flowers. Together, let’s make 2025 a year of growth, joy, and creativity!

Wishing you a wonderful start to the year filled with hope, health, and lots of flowers!
